I used to be a Technical Specialist on a U.S. Department of State contract. That meant that I got paid to travel to far-off, exotic locations and work on the computers in US embassies and consulates worldwide. Now I have transitioned to a much more challenging one. I am a biometrics system administrator working for Northrop Grumman (you know, the folks that bring you the B-2 bomber and Nimitz-class aircraft carriers) in Iraq. The base where I am deployed used to be an Iraqi Air Force base. Just before the war started, the Iraqis buried most of the planes in the sand. That's me in front of an Iraqi MiG-29 Fulcrum!
