Breaking news

It appears that Ralph Nader has decided to once again run for president.

I think my reaction can best be summed up as follows: a great, big 'who cares?'

I couldn't agree more. On that topic, I read two things this morning that are very relevent to his run: (a) in 2004 he got something like 0.3% of the popular vote and (b) no independent candidate has ever increased their numbers year over year. I have no idea what this guy is thinking, but maybe he just suffers from a delusional sense of himself as a hero to the masses. Not that this wouldn't work, in principle, but Democrats like to rotate their delusional saviors every four years, and he's had his chance. This time it's Obama's turn to promise to fix all our problems with the magical powers of the Federal Government.

Jon,

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I was reading something about his numbers today and that is right. His 0.3% showing in 2004 was down significantly from his 2.7% in 2000, so, again, you are correct in that it seems independents don't get stronger as time goes on. A columnist on National Review Online compared Nader to Harold Stassen. Ouch.
